Bishop Carroll has outstanding support for our school athletics, especially when it comes to football. It never gets old looking up into the stands from down on the field and seeing everybody do the “I Believe chant.” Even when it is cold outside, such as last Friday, we still managed to have a good amount of people come to the game. Every week on Monday after practice, there is a radio show that Coach Schuckman does at Emerson Biggins. On the show he talks about our performance the last week and he points out some key players in the win, and he will also talk about how we are going to prepare ourselves for the upcoming week and what we need to do to succeed. Even at the show, there is a decent amount of people that would show up for that. Our school takes a lot of pride in our sports. — Eric Nichols
I have been a die-hard Kansas Jayhawks fan since birth. My family tries to make it to at least one game every year. I have been to many KU basketball camps, and met many current and past players. With that being said, it is very hard to watch them this year. They ran all over Washburn in their exhibition game but struggled to beat UC Santa Barbara. I think that we’ve got a lot of talent on the team, from Wayne Selden, Kelly Oubre, Cliff Alexander, Perry Ellis, and others. However, I don’t think they are great together yet. I’m confident they will improve as the season goes on as long as they work together and not just for their personal stats… One can only hope.– Addison Bright
This world is becoming a scary place, what with the new constant threats of Isis, Ebola, and earthquakes in Kansas. I guess the earth is changing and so are the people. This Isis thing is becoming a huge problem, though, and I don’t think anyone is doing enough to try to stop them. It is kind of outrageous to hear about the decapitations of human people held captive, and then turn to the media and hear nothing substantial about ending the attacks, only apologies and condolences from fake politicians. I mean, I’m sure that our leaders care that our citizens are being murdered, I just don’t think they care enough. Maybe instead of just praying we could get an actual plan or some kind of assurance that our president isn’t letting these attacks go on. Yes, a plan for a way to end the attacks would be nice; even if it is kind of impossible to find and stop all of the terrorists, it would be nice to know that our politicians aren’t encouraging the attacks. — Suzanne Howey
