Do you like singing? Do you like cookies? Do you share the common love for Christmas? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you should join Bishop Carroll’s newest club, The Christmas Carrolling Club.
Founded by Lauren Buchanan and I, the club will have its first meeting on the Thursday before Thanksgiving break. The sponsor is Physics teacher, Mr. Weber.
By now you may be thinking, well shucks, I am not a very good singer. Fear not! We really don’t want good singers. We’re here to, as our mission statement says, “Bring the joyful voices of Bishop Carroll students to the doorsteps of west Wichita.” JOYFUL, not good. You just need to have a desire to sing and maybe some slight dancing. If you are skilled in the tambourine, triangle, guitar, or any instrument for that matter, we would love to have you.
Your Co-Presidents both come from a strong background of busy schedules and hectic activities, so don’t expect to be overwhelmed with this new club. After the pre-Thanksgiving meeting, we will have a maximum of two practices, and will most likely carol three times. We plan on caroling to local hospitals, nursing homes, and rectories.
If you can’t already tell, this club will be far from boring. The songs we sing will also be unorthodox. We are very interested in upbeat, tambourine-able songs such as “She Said Yes!” and “Hail Holy Queen” from the movie “Sister Act.” We will most likely sing some classics like “Jingle Bells” and “Up on the Housetop,” but they will all be upbeat and fun to sing.
Earlier, I mentioned cookies. There will, without a doubt, be cookies and hot cocoa at every single meeting/practice/caroling trip.
If I haven’t convinced you by now to join our club, then I pray that you move to Whoville, and your heart grows three sizes in one day.
