Week 8: Bishop Carroll vs Thomas Aquinas Preview

The Golden Eagles will be coming up against a desperate Thomas Aquinas squad after the Saints’ two straight blowout losses over the past two weeks

Breakdown:

Golden Eagles:

The Golden Eagles are coming off of a huge win against Bishop Miege, a win in which they had a total of 350 rushing yards throughout the course of the night. The Golden Eagles are going to have to continue their success on the ground, but that could be a rather difficult objective to accomplish going up against the stout defense of Thomas Aquinas. They will also look for a big game from senior quarterback Aiden Niedens.

Thomas Aquinas:

The Aquinas Saints are widely known to be one of the premier teams in the entire state of Kansas. From their stout offense to their dominant defense, you will be hard-pressed to find a true weakness in their game. But as of late, the team seems to have hit a rough spot, as their past two games have ended in a pair of blowout losses to Lawrence and Omaha Westdale. But despite the two big losses, the Saints have seen big-time performances from Tank Young, who was able to compile 146 rushing yards on 30 carries along with the team’s lone touchdown last week.

Adrian’s Thoughts:

Despite Aquinas’ two recent blowout losses, expect them to give it their all against the Golden Eagles this week. Their backs are truly against the wall this week, as just a one more regular season loss could put them in a tough spot going into the postseason next week. But despite this, I still expect the Golden Eagles to neutralize the Saints and keep them neutralized throughout the course of the night. I am expecting the Golden Eagles to have another exceptional rushing performance, with the final box score likely equaling 200+ yards on the ground in favor of the Golden Eagles. Final Score: 38-24. If tonight’s game results in a win for the Golden Eagles, Carroll will be in prime position to make a deep and emphatic playoff run this season.
