Teenage Summer

Teenage+Summer

Summer. The word that every child gets excited about. The word that every teacher counts down to. And the word that parents dread. For as long as I can remember, summer has been filled with memories of the lake, late nights, and a care free mentality. As a child, every night of summer was spent on the lake skiing, tubing, neighborhood dinners, and catching fireflies. Summer was a time of relaxation, fun, and a worry free mentality. But as I get older, summer began to look differently for me. For most teenagers, summer is compact with a job, college searching, scholarship hunting, random family road trips, and hopefully plenty of sleep. Summer is now the two and a half months where you try to get everything done instead of the care free mentality of a child in the summer. While all the hustle and the bustle of a teenager’s summer will pay off in the future, what happened to the relaxing at the lake and sleeping in? However don’t let the busy summer get in your way of still having the thrilling summers of your childhood. Even though a weekend getaway to the lake may not fit in the jam packed schedule, there are many interesting and adventurous places to visit in the ICT. If your more of an artsy, coffee-shop going type of person, Wichita has countless bakery’s, restaurants, and shops that pleases the stomach as well as the eye. Wichita is also filled with many parks with thrilling slides and swing sets, because who doesn’t love swing sets? At the end of the day, you are only a teenager for select few years in your life time so enjoy it while you can!
