For a Photojournalism assignment, Mclaine Hall shot portraits of Lakin Russell and asked her a few questions. Check back for more “Getting to know” features in the future. 

Q: What are some of your favorite hobbies? “I eat ice a lot, and hangout with Mclaine. I fish a lot in the summer and in the winter I watch Netflix.”

Q: Do you have any pets? “I have 2 dogs, an apple head Chihuahua and a Malti Poo. I also have 4 turtles.”

Q: Tell me about your family.  “Well Rumba is our pride and joy. But besides her, I have my two parents, Kit and Staci, and a twin brother, Landon.”

Q: What are your favorite sports teams? “I only like Kansas University and the Royals. I won’t watch anyone else.”

Q: How would you describe yourself? “I am quiet around people I don’t know, but once you get to know me I’m a lot different. I am a big outdoors person.”

Q: What are your plans after high school? “I want to go to WSU. I have no idea what I want to major in though.”

Q: What is your favorite season?  “Summer. No school, and hot weather, nothing beats that.”

Q: Who is your favorite teacher at Carroll? “Coach Lager. She doesn’t get annoyed when I come see her all the time. She always puts me in a good mood.”

Q: What grade school did you attend? “I went to St. Peters. It was only fun in middle school.”

Q: Who are your best friends? “My best friends are Lillian Toon and Mclaine Hall. My other best friend is Shae Schrader, but she doesn’t go to Carroll.”
