Another exciting week of sports has come and gone and with it, the MLB Playoffs have arrived! In local news, Carroll sports continue pushing towards the postseason.

MLB Playoffs

One of my favorite things about October is the combination of crisp, cool air, energetic fans, and baseball. This combination is known as the MLB Playoffs and, other than the Wild Card, is one of the greatest things invented in all of sports. The Wild Card, which forces two teams into a winner-take-all one game playoff, started with a bang on Tuesday with my Yankees out-bullpenning the Minnesota Twins in an 8-4 game. Wednesday night the Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the Colorado Rockies 11-8 in the other Wild Card game. Next, the Divisional Series started on Thursday with the Astros taking on the Red Sox and the Indians play against my Yanks.

Eagle Sports

As the fall sports season draws to a close, the Eagles look to continue a strong overall season. Most notably, the boys soccer team has won at least ten games for their seventh consecutive season. As of now, they would be a two seed in the 5A South Central Bracket; behind the scalding hot Eisenhower Tigers. Girls Golf had their City League tournament this week and took second as a team. Individual Medalists were T-4 Vanessa Rosales, 7 Kylie Jansen, 9 Lakin Shelton, and T-10 Sami Lashley; Vanessa Rosales and Kylie Jansen made first team all-league, and Lakin Shelton and Tegan Kendrick made second team. As for the net sports, volleyball and girls tennis, both teams are doing well and look to keep up the momentum heading into the postseason. As many of you witnessed firsthand, Carroll football lost a tough one to Derby. It was a close game throughout, but Carroll struggled with turnovers late which cost them. Expect to see them bounce back this week against South. Both Cross Country teams have been having medalists in all levels of their meets. Keep up the good work Eagles, I look forward to following you as you advance towards the postseason!
