Journalism students reflect on their summer plans.

Bishop Carroll Journalism students reflect on their favorite summer memories from their childhood: “Blowing bubbles, coloring with chalk, running around in my swimsuit the entire day with small breaks to splash in the paddling pool. My childhood summer memories are a blur of popsicles and fresh watermelon.” –Addie Duling

“I always remember playing baseball during the summer as a kid. Out on the fields of Goddard baseball club, the Cubs would dominate the league.” –Jordan Martin

Summer jobs are the perfect opportunity for Carroll students to work hard and save money, or give back to the community:

 “I will be working at corporate caterers as well as a timing company for races like 5ks and half marathons. My main goal this summer is to work enough to buy a car that is not about to kick the bucket.” –Jacob Thomas

“I’m probably going to work at my parish garage sale this summer for stewardship. I really enjoy it because it gives me the opportunity to look at a bunch of cool and interesting items for sale.” –Kaleb Gomez

Check it off the summer bucket list:

“My summer bucket list is going to Washington D.C. and making lots of money. I also want to have fun.” –Joe Schaefer

“My summer bucket list is to win 4 softball tournaments, because softball means a lot and I like to feel like I accomplish something. Also on my list is to go Petland and play with 5 puppies, because they are all so cute.” –Kennedee Lara

Certain sounds or scenes immediately bring back summer memories- two students share theirs:

“The song Tiny Dancer by Elton John puts me in the summer mood. It is the greatest song ever. I’d recommend it to everyone.” –John Honas

“The movie I think of when I think summer is JAWS. I think summer because there are a lot of beach scenes. I also see it as summer because the ocean who doesn’t want to go to the ocean during summer” –Nate Wetta

Summer Routine:

“This summer I would love to not have a routine but that dream is crushed by weights in the morning. On the bright side that will cause me to be more productive during the day.” –Karli Baalman

Summer’s favorite trait: 

“One my favorite things about summer is the freedom. I love having long hair and it‘s really the only time of year that I can grow it out. I also have the freedom to hang out with my friends more than during the school year.” –Jace Brown
