GAME 2: BISHOP CARROLL (0-1) @ NW vs. EAST (0-1)
Staff member Jordan Schartz sat down with football coach Alan Schuckman to talk about tonight’s game against East.
What did the team learn from last week’s loss?
“We have so much inexperience with only five starters back. So that’s one thing we learned was inexperience. It was a great high school football game and we just came out on the short end. We need to figure out how to make plays, offensively and defensively.”
Are you going to take a different approach for tonight’s game?
“No we aren’t going to change what we do. We have won two state championships the last three years doing what we do. We are going to have to do some things a little differently, but for the most part we are going to do what we do.”
Who will be the biggest threat on East?
“Their quarterback is a real nice player, Ethan Anderson, he distributes the ball well. And then they have Xavier Kelly, a national recruit, he is a guy that can dominate. They have a good offense and passing game, so we will have to stop that tonight.”
Kapaun played East last week and scored on several big plays and long passes, do you think we will be able to do that also tonight?
“Yeah, I’m sure they will make adjustments too tonight. We have to establish the run, we didn’t do a very good job of that last week and that’s one thing we have to do tonight. When we do that we will hopefully get a play action pass when the opportunity arises.”
