Bishop Carroll girls swimming ended its regular season with a bang, beating Heights and North, on Tuesday at North. Freshman Lexie Shelton did not disappoint, either. Shelton broke the 500-yard freestyle record by more than four seconds with a    .

“It’s been my goal for a while now to break the record. And now that I actually have it, it’s a huge relief,” she said. Shelton’s goals for the rest of the season is to “have some faster swims at City League and state to finish off the season.”

Carroll beat North 132-53, and also beat Heights 126-56. Senior Tatum Hilger won the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:09.59. Hilger also won the 100 yard backstroke. Other event winners included Alexis Webb, sophomore, Hannah Chadd, senior.

Carroll also swept all three relays. Members of the relays included Lauren Patterson, Lexie Shelton, Alexis Webb, Reagan Stonestreet, Hannah Chadd, Tatum Hilger, and Makayla Ehmke. There are also two relays in top three of the Wichita area.

In Wichita Eagle rankings, the team as a whole is also in second place in the Wichita area behind East.

Carroll has two meets left of the season which include the City League meet at Heights May 12 and the state meet in Topeka on May 19-20. So far, there are eight girls that have qualified for the state meet.
