The varsity baseball team won both of their games last night in their double header against Wichita North, taking their win streak to 11 in a row.  The team’s record is now 17-1, with two regular season games remaining. They will play Northwest on Monday in a double header, it will be senior night at Westurban. The team only needs a split to lock up the number one seed in Regionals and another City League championship.

The team was lead by Senior Adam Theis. Theis drove in seven runs in the first game and on the night, including an inside-the-park home run. “Every time I got to the plate I was aggressive and hit my pitch instead of the pitchers pitch,” Theis said.

Bishop Carroll took the first game 17- 4, collecting 16 hits led by three hits each from Theis, Justin Tangney, and Tyler Alverson. Five pitchers combined to allow only four runs including Nathan Baalman, who pitched a perfect second inning with two strikeouts.

In the night cap, Carroll won 21- 7. Brayden Whitchurch and AJ Peters led the team with four RBIs a piece. Carroll blew the game open in the third inning with nine runs on seven hits. “We hit well. Its May the Fourth and we played like Jedi’s,“ mused Coach Brent Holman.

Carroll gave up just four runs on seven hits, Tangney and Jack Ebright allowed no runs and no hits.

“It was a great contribution by every team member and we got some crucial wins,” said junior Blake Freeman.
