Alyssa Cooke found letters from a bygone era in her attic. She is trying to track down the writer.

The Flyer’s first issue is out this Friday and sure to start the year off with a bang. Among our annual back to school reportage, including changes in policy, new teachers, etc., this paper also features coverage of the most epic summer adventures undertaken by Bishop Carroll students. Be sure to look out for Europe: a double page spread detailing an international journey that’s sure to fill any average person with wanderlust. Student features, another Flyer specialty, highlight interesting stories regarding the lives of BC pupils. Don’t miss the opportunity to travel back in time with Alyssa Cooke as her story of discovering historic letters is told.

Get to know Fr. Sam Brand as more than BC Chaplain. From his adventuresome childhood to what inspired him to be a priest, Fr. Brand spills all in this year’s first issue of the Flyer.

On pages 24 and 25, get the inside scoop on how our football team gets ready, and read about family traditions and students’ favorite activities with friends. Who knows, maybe you will get some good ideas for things to do before the next game.

Without any returning offensive lineman, this year’s offense had to all but start over. However, four seniors have been eagerly awaiting their opportunity to step up to the line and the challenge. This year’s O-line is made up of the underappreciated which makes them unpredictable and dangerous. As the season progresses, Briggs, Hudspeth, Nance and Newby all prove to not only be fulfilling their individual leadership roles but exceeding them as well.

The Flyer Staff is excited to share its kickoff issue with the world, and the release of this paper marks the start of a wonderful year for journalism. Be sure to grab your copy and experience firsthand coverage of all things Bishop Carroll!
