Against the opposition from North High, the Bishop Carroll Girls Cross Country team took first place at the GWAL City League meet.
Throughout the season North had beat Carroll in every varsity race, at every meet. This past Saturday the Carroll varsity girls “packed it up” into the top twenty-one placing’s, with Anna Schinstock as their leader, and pulled through to win the 9th consecutive City League title.
“It was really awesome pushing together and proving a lot of people wrong; that we’re still the city league’s best team,” said Shinstock. “It’s amazing how each person running individually comes together to fight as a team.”
The Bishop Carroll Girls JV did outstanding as well. As a team, they placed swept the city league with their 22nd consecutive first place. Individually, sisters, Kaylor (senior) and Kindell (freshman) Nordhus turned in times that put them on the list of top seven runners who will compete at regionals.
“Seeing who was stronger between me and my sister at the end of the race made it a great competition,” said Kaylor Nordhus.
Due to the many miles and hours of practice, the Bishop Carroll Girls proved once again that they were the best in the city. Everyone did their part on and off the course: cheering, taking that one faster step, and praying for their fellow runners, that is why Bishop Carroll continues to be successful.
“Seeing our team hand in hand until we all finished the race, made me realize how blessed I am to be part of the BCXC family,” said Sarah Wappelhorst.
