The Bishop Carroll Powderpuff Game is always the most anticipated and drama-packed part of Homecoming Week, yes, even more so than the Homecoming Dance itself. The Junior and Senior girls trained a whole 2 days in advance with the diligent help of their coaches. They worked strenuously until their bodies ached, just for the chance to bring their class the honor and glory of a Powderpuff victory.

Senior and Halftime Hunnie power-player, Mary Kate Cundiff said, “The coaches have been absolutely great so far. It has certainly been a rough journey, but here we are all coming together in the end and it’s just great to see us all coming out to show our spirit.”

The preparations from both teams were evident as the girls went through drills, cheers, and plays flawlessly. Each team wanted nothing more than to rip the flags off of their opponent and claim the title of 2015 Powderpuff Champion, the victory above all other victories.

Junior Powderpuff Coach, Philip Costello said, “Being a coach is really tough. We’re just out here trying to have fun, flying to the ball. We’ve just got to keep going, battling it out, never quitting. We can’t let the seniors get on the outside, we should keep them on the inside to make those tackles, but besides those couple plays, we have been doing really great.”

The Junior Gang Green Gals battled it out on the powderpuff field against the Senior Halftime Hunnies. The tension in the air could have been cut by a knife, nevertheless, the students and all of the Bishop Carroll Community had a fun-filled night.

Principal Vanessa Harshberger said, “My favorite part of Powderpuff night is all the participation. Look at all the girls on both sides and look how full the stands are, it’s amazing!”

Sophomore Maddie Beck, said, “I love coming to Powderpuff, it gets me so excited for when I am an upperclassmen, and it is also an awesome time watching the girls I look up to playing some great powderpuff football.”

Junior Class Sponsor, Mr. Langenfeld jokingly said, “I’ve really been distracted by the glitter and hair bows, is there football being played around here somewhere?”

The sidelines of each class had very different dynamics, the Junior girls gathered together in lively social circles, motivating each other and wanting to make memories.

Junior and Gang Green Gals power-player, Grace Buessing said, “Let’s Go Juniors, play #LikeAGirl.”

Junior and Offensive Linemen/Center, Olivia Robben said, “Seniors, we are going to crush you. You aren’t all that you think you are, so watch us dominate.”

The Senior Halftime Hunnies were much more serious, very into the game, and structured to be a driving force to get that W. The senior sideline was intense, as this was their last chance and many thought of them as the more experienced and superior team.

This superiority was displayed as the Halftime Hunnies triumphed over the Gang Green Gals by winning the Powderpuff game, 14 to 6.
