Sophomore Dylan Albers is a defender on the varsity soccer team. He will take you inside the team this season with a weekly diary. Look for it every week.
In the beginning of the season, nobody would have ever thought we would go to state. Our performance was not its best, having 6 overtime games in a row. We were still figuring things out and getting used to each other. We did not have the height, power, or experience of last year’s team. Our offense couldn’t score easily and our defense had to hold the other team, hoping offense will score to give the team a cushion. Things weren’t going well. That was only for the time being as we suddenly went on an 8 game win streak, and beating Liberal, a team Bishop Carroll men’s soccer has never beaten before, for the regional final. We also beat a junior and senior heavy Salina South for sub state. For the first time in all of Carroll history, the men’s team has taken home a plaque for state. We took 3rd place, the furthest any men’s team has gone. The men’s soccer program has grown extraordinarily over the years. The fan base has doubled in size. We now are one of the top dogs, and we now must live up to that. Next year will be an exciting year.
